Transmission engages at time like being hit from behind

My Ride: 2005 545i - Black and Tan (not a beer), sport package, premium sound, comfort seats, winter package, heads-up, Navigation, ski bag, split rear seats
1995 740iL Mojavie Brown (need I say more) Got a good price, For sale now.
Has anyone experienced having a problem with their Transmission. I have had this several times and had it in to the service department too. When I am in the manual mode DS I accererate from a stop and the engine revs but won't engage then all of a sudden it kicks in and it feels like I've been hit from behind. This happened again last week. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it makes you look in the rearview mirror to see who's hit me.
Any help appreciated.

Also use this board's search feature with the keyword "slam" to find other related threads.
You did not provide any details regarding the year and model of your 5 or if you ever had a software update. Quite some time ago there was a service bulletin regarding this problem and the fix was a software update. You can find out all about it by using search.

Thanks for the info. I checked the search, but did not know it to be called the "Slam" THat was a great bit of info. I will be talking with my Service Director to see what he plans to do. If anything.
