I have E60 tiptronic ( 530i ) with 126K.
When in "D" it will down shift in finale gear on coming to a stop with a hesitation or locking - not smooth.
If I put it in" DS" mode it will come to a stop smoothly.
The tranny was flushed with at 96K and filter was changed. Proper fluid was used. Do not know what kind. Done by a BMW (none dealer) service.
Any ideas? Makes for really jerky driving in stop and go on traffic in "D"

The 2-1 downshift jolt is caused by lazy shift solenoids in the transmissions mechatronic
aka valvebody. On my old 330i with the same tranny the tranny would do this after the engine/tranny were work. It progressed to slipping and shift flare on any heavy application of throttle.
New solenoids fixed all of these issues.

Thanks thakid22,
Would you share who did the new solenoids and your source for new rebuilt.
Did you have the valve body completely rebuilt? If so by whom.
