Tranny in the 528
#1
Well I have had a 328 loaner bare bones-really makes you appreciate that options really make the car-primarly comfort seats I guess!
Anyway for those that dont know the tranny in the is made by GM and the majority of other cars, all 5 series use a zf tranny. Man there is a huge difference atleast in the autobox I have at the performance of the tranny. The shift speeds and smoothness are night and day better in the zf. You get this funny thing when you floor it/kick down and it drops 2 gears it takes forever to do this-hard to explain. On my car if I floor it, I am thrusted immediatly withlout lag. And this is not related to sprint booster kind of thing. I dont have one. Hard to explain.
I am assuming it is the tranny and not engine. The thing is much slower than my car and I am not sure if 528s have this same feeling because they lack the 3 stage intake or other engine mods to detune it. So I may be blaming the tranny when its the engine in the 28s-the n51 I believe. Really takes the fun out of it.
