I thought I read somewhere that said traffic info is not available if you order SAT Radio. Is that true? My car does have SAT radio but the service is no longer active.
I have "traffic" enabled using the "Auto" setting but I never see any traffic information displayed in the NAV screen. I would think being in Los Angeles it would be available.
Any ideas?

Hummm then I'm guessing I still havent figured out how to use it! hahah I'll play with it more.
I have it set on "auto" but when I browse maps I dont see any green, yellow or red lines indicating traffic on the highways. I'm pretty sure I've tried having a destination entered too.

do you get the TI on the bottom of the iDrive screen, next to where you see your cellphone bluetooth connection? If you do, then you are receiving traffic information. Under the navigation menu there is a section for traffic information where there are descriptions and locations of construction, accidents or heavy traffic. As Phil points out, I only notice one, two or three arrows indicating how heavy the traffic is...

and don't forget to turn on dynamic route under route options.
One of the reasons I always use the address book even when I am going somewhere I know is that the system will mostly pickup major blocks and divert
