2008+ for traffic
Your wrong. I remember clearly when I just got my 2007 car in July 2006 a few months later they came out with the traffic on the navigation and I was pissed.

If TMC has been available on European E60s since 03 why is the US equivalent only available on 2007 and later 5 Series produced after September 2006? It uses the same RDS-TMC channel to provide data. Are US spec GPS receivers not equipped with the required FM receivers?
I'm pretty sure Europe has had some sort of traffic information system for many, many years now. Way before navigation systems, etc. The issue in the US is that it was only recently that traffic data was transmitted and able to be received by systems in cars. Right now, I think there are two (maybe more) ways to get traffic data -- one way is through satellite (Sirius XM) and the other is through terrestrial systems like the one Clear Channel Broadcasting Co. uses with their "Total Traffic Network".

The E60's RTTI system uses the Total Traffic Network...
