My Ride: DMS 535d. Titanium Silver on Black leather. M- Sport Package.
Picked up my new 520d on Friday. All I can say is I'am very impressed with the 520d performance
and build quality. They have made some serious changes from 2004.

very nice ride! great color choice. makes me even more anxious to receive my 07 525i! is the materials used in the interior different from your 04?

My Ride: E60 520d with BMW Night Vision, Adaptive Bi-Xenon, Adaptive Cruise Control, Pro Logic 7, Pro Nav with DVD changer and TV, Aux in for Ipod, Hella White Taillamps, Red Angel eyes, HUD, BMW Individual Backseat DVD with infrared headsets, Alp White 3, Comfort Seats with ventilation electric memory, sunroof, PDC, Alpine remap, M-Sport, Dynamic Drive, Steptronic ..... (ALL OPTIONS) (Why not get all options then buying a bigger engine?)
You are right 520d is way faster than 520i.

Care to venture further with "better build quality" and " serious changes from 2004"? I'm interested to know what they've changed as I'm considering changing my car from '05 525i to 07' 530

Ok.
First point I noticed is when you close the door. 2006 model feels a lot more solid.
I took it on a trip on the weakend and all I can say is that the wind noise level has gone down to near 0.
Car ride is much better now. Maybe it's the M sport package but car fills better on the road.
Servotronic wheel is amazing. Didn't have that before and it makes a world of a differance.
Materials used seem the same. But the Black interior and sport seats make a differance for me. Better seating position and more comfortable.
In general I find the car better build. All I can say is go for a test drive on a new model and you'll notice the differance straight away. Thats what I did and ended up with a brand new car.
