Mine will almost always go off I floor the car, acellerate when cornering or drive quickly over uneven ground.

I need loose ground or wet, very hard to provoke otherwise. Could be that the light only now shows for more major interventions. 

I know BMW have the 50:50 weight thing, but do you think the touring shape is a factor (a bit like when people used to put bricks in the boot of their old RWD ford cortinas to make sure they didn't slip in the wet?

Once my rear tyres wore down past about 3mm they were lethal (even though they were not at the tread depth limiter) in the wet - the traction control found it hard to keep up and react quick enough! it was the same in my previous car (E60 330ci sport).
In the 530d with worn tyres wheelspin in 3rd was easy. New rear rubber did make quite a difference - still spins in wet very easily though, in the dry only when provoked!

It's win:win for them. If they don't sell you the tyres, they expect to be shortly selling you a new front bumper

. No really, i'm sold to rwd, when it comes to driving fun, but in the wet if i disengage the dsc i manged...get this!!!....from 30-40km/h to reach 180 in 2-3 seconds.
The car kept moving forwords and no back end fighting, but as soon as i would have changed the steering wheel by an angle i would have had to back off.
Yes DEFENETLY i need 275 on the rear since 245 are too narrow when it comes to traction. Maybe the tires don't help also, but i really need more grip.
Oh and also, i'm not much of a snow fan drifting lunatic

When i play it my car at moderate speeds (60-70 km/h) and hit an apex i begin to slide, and as soon as i begin to countersteer and i lift off i get a punch of grip again. Sometimes it feels so brutal that even my sport seats seem not to hold me tight. Maybe the lack of the lsd makes the car more brutal when it gains grip again.

Still am sure the 535 is still pretty quick - tempted to switch my 530d (the one with loads of faults!) for one - equally tempted with an S4 though - have you driven one?

As for the 535D, i do not feel it was a step back from the RS6, i wanted a change & fancied keeping more money in my back pocket, as the RS6 was a very expensive car to own/run/maintain. Believe me when i say the 535D is a far nicer place to spend a couple of driving hours than the RS6 ever was. The RS6 is about brutal performance with family practicality.
My problems are fixed (according to the dealer) & i'm picking the car up on Friday morning (can't wait). DMS are booked to come & re re-map the car on Monday
As for S4's i assume you mean the current model (B6 i think), with the 4.2 V8, not the 2.7 Bi-turbo? If you mean the current S4, then i'd never dream of moving from a 535D to an S4 so i guess i'd also not move from a 530D either. Don't get me wrong, they're a quick car, but not very quick & with 340BHP they only put out the same power as a DMS 535D, but the Audi has much less torque than the E60. So performance they'd be matched, but the Audi S4 is a very very thirsty car, expect mid teens as an average. I'd stick with what you've got ratther than jump into an S4, however the new RS4 is a different prospect all-together

Only an m5! Or a P 997 turbo as a more exotic option.

I'm going this summer to wetterauer to have a look at my engine.
Hope there is a very feelable difference and i won't throw away 2000euros.

Don't think it is a car age thing - my 530d Touring is May 04, and as I posted earlier, need to be very rough (as opposed to just fast) treatment and/or a pothole to get the light on in the dry

But.....if I do decide to play a bit by accelerating hard or flicking the back end out a bit on a bend - the DSC activates. This may be what you mean by 'rough' I suppose. To me this isn't particularly excessive and this sort of behaviour triggered the DSC far less in my e46 coupe.
In the wet it generally lights up even if I'm not playing.
