My Ride: 2007 525 XI 1968 AMC AMX
Default

Got a question about my traction control.

Just bought a 2007 525 XI. I took it around an on ramp, on dry pavement and the traction light started flashing/blinking and felt the brakes doing their thing. Now I wasn't pushing it real hard, but certainly harder then my wife would.

I took it back and BMW replaced some traction control sensor. This morning it did the same thing.

So the question is, is this normal for a XI?

Thanks,

Jeff

They must have got an error code from the sensor if they changed it. So, I don't know how hard you pushed it, but if you think that traction control still operates when it shouldn't, I would check the cable coming from the ABS/traction control sensor. Once I got an error code about a faulty sensor, but the true reason was that the cable coming from the sensor was damaged inside the car, in a trunk.

I don't have an xDrive, but wondering if all four of your tires are identical? I can imagine that if one or more are not identical in circumference, then the DTC might be triggered even in moderate cornering. Just a guess.

But, it's probably a sensor or wire connection, like previously speculated.

To give you an idea as to my "pushing it", this is a turn I would typically go 45 to 50 in my old 528. In the 525 I get to 38 and the traction control kicks in.

I checked the tires and they are all the same, but good thought.

I'll take it back and tell them to take another look at it.

Thanks for the relies.
