I got an 07 550i.Took it in today for warranty work.My service advisor told me that running my car without the TPMS sensors can cause problems.I'm running Radenergie RS 10 wheels without the sensors.I appreciate any info.Thank You

Don't think it'd "hurt" your car to run w/o the TPMS installed unless the alerts cause you to be distracted while driving.

But, since you can find a set for about $200, and if they can be fitted to your wheels, I feel being alerted to low tire pressure that could cause tire damage to be an important benefit.

I have a 07 530 and every Winter I have put my Winter set on without the TPMS. You will see a warning every time you start the car, but that is it. I think they are stating there may be issue if you do not have run flats which is also not an issue. I would not worry about based on my experience.

Actually the issue would be if you DO have run-flats...as you can't as easily "feel" that your tire has no air. With a regular tire, it is pretty easy to tell when you have no air. So the TPMS really becomes important if you are running run-flats more so than with regualr tires.

Does this warning go away automatically after a few seconds? Do you have to do something to clear the warning every time?
