Questions regarding TPMS, or the ABS version for the 2005 545i,

1: does anyone know which version is on this car?

2: if it has the abs version, can it be upgraded to a true TPMS?

Has the abs system and not upgradable without a lot of money spent for very little gain. IN general tire pressure monitoring is a nice feature but probably not something I would pay for in general nevermind upgrading one to another. The thing lets you know when somethings off-so go stick a pressure guage on the car. There is no real benefit of the current TPMS. Sure the tpm system now is a better system and the only real problem with the abs sytem is its less sensitive and on the odd chance all 4 tires lose air equally it wont alert you to anything but come on-how often would that ever happen in life signiifigantly enought o cause a problem-wooops why did all 4 tires lose 20psi-just doesnt happen.

So live with what you got and be happy you have something

Toilet Paper Monitoring System is very useful.... you never wanna run out at the wrong time

Sorry, had to throw that one in there

Ya you are actually in luck in that respect-when changing out rims and stuff you need not worry about the sensors and crap.

Congrats on the purchase-a great car and I bet you are enjoying it. I still enjoy mine equally as much each day I get in almost a year later-took me a few mods along the way to keep the grin as wide but nonetheless I love it
