Unfortunately I had a chance to experience the tire pressure monitors yesterday. The warning light and chime came on telling me my right rear tire was low. I pulled over and checked the pressure and it was 28PSI. The sudden drop of 4PSI which isn't a lot never would have been detected with my Toureg. (I used to ignore the TPM in the Volkswagen because it was so unreliable) I brought the pressure up to 34PSI, reset the monitor and headed home. About 10 minutes later the warning came on again and the pressure was down to 28PSI again. The bad part is I picked up a puncture from a small screw and my Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3's have only about 500 miles since mounted. I like the new system and will definitely trust it. As a side note if you buy the Goodyears be prepared to wait a few days if you need to replace one. They don't stock them in their stores in the Northeast and it could take a week to get one.

What year and model of car do you have. I did not realize that the TPM told you which tire was deflating.

I have a 2007 530XI built in April. They are individual monitors in the wheels attached to the valve stems. If the car has metal stems there's a good chance that the TPM's are the new style.
