I also have a tire pressure monitor malfunction. The posts that i have read stated that the RDS is located under the spare tire but i could not find it. I did however find it located mounted on a bracket on the right side rear quarter panel under the battery cover just above the fuse panel. It is a white looking box. It is called tire pressure monitor control unit. When i plugged into my OBD2 tester i found that there was no communication with all 4 tire pressure sensors. I tried a swapping the RDS with one from a friend and it fixed the problem. This is for a 2010 535i. Hope this helps!

M trunk accidentally got opened while I was out to eat and it started raining so I had water in the spare area that knocked out my rdc module. Got a new one at the dealer. Plug and play
