I hate having a front plate but I pass by so many cops and get nervous everytime to the point where I'm just going to use the "ricer/Evo style to the side of the front bumper" license plate tow-hook mount.
so fix it ticket for no front plate? not bad!
im like u i dont have a front plate but my euro plate.. but my front plate is in the trunk in case i get pulled over.. also u can just throw ur front plate on the front dash .. as long as it visible u should be ok?

I've got to install the motorized one soon, but need to figure out where positive
and the ground wires go. After I pick up some ramps, and after the snow in Chicago melts!

I received the Rho Plate and it's a nice unit. I mount it as far to the passenger side as I could to stay clear of the nearest PDC sensor. It looks nice and there are zero PDC issues. I also bought a smoked license plate cover/frame that should be delivered tomorrow, but I couldn't wait to post a few images. The plate stands out more (white plate against a black car) without the cover, but I like the placement.

She needs a bath, but you get the idea.

I'd change two things. First would be to make the mounting stud steel as opposed to aluminum and use a beefier "plate to car" mounting bolt. I got the unit on pretty tightly, but I'm worried about over-tightening and stripping out the aluminum. Second would be to make the mounting plate thicker / more rigid. It isn't flimsy per se, but it has *just* a little more give than I prefer. Overall, it's a nicely done kit that is worth the $60 price.

Sorry guys but I'm just not feeling that off-center plate position.

In NJ we too are "required" to display a front plate. Since I wasn't in favor of the screwed thru the bumper BMW plate bracket I used black bolts to attach my plate to a simple matt black metal frame and used 3M double sided tape to affix it to the center of my front bumper. It's been stuck there for almost 4 years now. No fuss - no bother. If I ever sell it to someone who lives where a front plate is not required there will be no holes to plug or patch.

Does the OEM front plate mounting bracket require drilling into the bumper??? I thought it was mounted on a bracket that connected under the bumper grill...ie...no holes to drill.

Yes ... it requires screws thru the front bumper.

I agree with you on that, but I'm just not drilling holes in my bumper, so an offset plate is the lesser of two evils as far as I'm concerned.

I had my OEM mount affixed in the middle of the bumper with double sided tape to meet the fix it requirement for my court date and it held together pretty well. I was just really nervous about it coming off, especially in the car wash I spent a good 45 minutes with Goo Gone removing the tape residue from my bumper last night and I don't plan to do that again.

I've seen pictures of offset plates with smoked covers and the look is improved by tenfold. Will post additional pics of the plate with the cover attached tonight.

That really sucks about having to drill holes to mount a plate. In case any of you are interested...I use have used these plugs for the holes in my 911 bumper....it came from the factory with (2) holes in the front bumper.
