Just a thought, everyone's mentioning the rear glass and the risk to back seat passengers.
Judging by the impact marks from the truck that hit from behind looks like it was quite high off of the ground.

I'm not sure what other vehicle you could have been driving that would have given you more protection.
Er apart from say a Hummer?????

I managed to put a 5 series upside down in a deep ditch and to be honest i'm glad i was driving a car as tough as
that was, i feel sure it saved me from much worse damage than a cut on my head!!!!!

PS glad you guys were ok!!!!!

Glad to hear you are okay. And the soda stayed in the cup holder? That's it, no more bashing on the cup holders.
no the soda can was in the floor board, but since I took the mats out to save weight, kidding, i didn't want the big red all over the floor.

You are absolutely correct, cars can be replaced. People cant! glad youre okay to tell the story of what happened.

I too would try and push to have the car written off. The car will have substantial frame damage judging by the pics of the rear. It will not be the same anymore.

I wouldn't keep the car if that was me. I'd get it fixed and then sell it. There might be other things that can be damaged like the car's frame and suspension. Just my .02cents.

Wow. I'm glad that you're OK. Your car does seem a little... shorter than mine now. Hopefully it's totalled. Get yourself checked out as well.

As an aside, I'm from Bloomington and was just in Evansville last weekend. My sister in law lives in Newburg and both myself and my wife are UE grads.

Very cool, I went to IU and love bloomington to this day, i keep seeing these SoCal/NorCal meets, we should get an Indiana meet going. I'll of course be driving a rental, but who knows.

Is that a veteran license plate? IV tech?
It's even worse... I grew up in Vincennes.
