![Question](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Hi Guys,
i have a E60-530i 2003, 125k km.
when i did my service 8 months ago the mechanic changed my engine oil and he used Castrol GTX professional.
i have topped up the oil a month ago with Castrol EDGE 5w-30 fully synthetic.
is that OK, or i am screwed?
Thanks

I think you're good. Just make sure you tell the mechanic to use full-synthetic at your next oil change.

you can freely mix oils so long as they're the right weights (for your engine), and I recommend using oils on the BMW approved list (LL-01). I run M1 0W-40 in my 550. it's on the list, and $25 for a 5qt jug @ wally world.

I would suggest getting the oil changed back to synthetic. When regular oil is subjected to high temperatures, the by product is carbon. the use of synthetic oil allows you the extended intervals. If you recall when using dino oil, the intervals are much shorter.
