My Ride: 2007 530Xi - Navigation, Premium package, Steptronic.
Default

My wife and I took delivery of an on-the-lot 2007 Titanium Silver/Grey interior 530Xi yesterday. It has Navigation, Premium Package and Steptronic. This is to be a commuter car for the missus, who really wanted something fun to drive. We replaced a 1998 Lexus w/120K miles, and tried the Lexus ES350, Infiniti M35X, and a Camry SE. 530Xi came out on top, so we bought. Now with a total of 39 miles on the ODO, I'm feeling comfortable in it, but the complexity of the features available through the IDrive is pretty dramatic. Fortunately, the car goes just fine when I push on the pedal. I am concerned that because it's 8/06 production, we won't be able to get the RTTI piece into the Nav system, but the dealer says he thinks it's software doable, and he'll keep on top of it. I imagine that if it's hardware related (somehow getting RDS data to the NAV system), then I'm out of luck. Boston traffic tends to have some bad spots, so anything which will make the commute easier for the missus is a good thing.

Congradulations and great choice. After a few thousand miles it seems like the engine even runs better.

YOu made the right choice. dont worry about the complexity of the iDrive... its really not that complicated. Trust me. I have the E60 and the Lexus IS with NAV. and I find that the E60 iDrive is much better to use and more organized to use than the Lexus. P.S. the Lexus ES 350 is the same as the IS NAV.

Congrats! Great car. When all the other 530 and 550 owners are stuck at home when a blizzard hits, just think that you'll be enjoying your car year round! You'll love it...or should I say, she'll love it. Enjoy!

Congrats to both of you! I agree with EBMCS03, the Idrive will become second nature to you. Enjoy!

I would just caution you on RTTI and your dealer's promise that it should be doable... there have been a lot of promises broken already (bluetooth, mp3, etc.)

Thanks...and I think I confirmed your caution by calling BMWNA. Looks like it's hardware and not software (as I fully expected). I made a post about this subject a little earlier this morning.
