A bad alternator will cause all kinds of crazy faults on these cars. Glad you resolved this.

I can't say I'm gonna miss this car. Although the seat fits me perfectly, the rest is  .

I actually just picked my 545i from BMW of San Diego the other day.
Had to get new pads and rotors.
Plus my SES - increased emissions light came back on after the reflashed the ecu to fix the issue. It ended up being a thermostat stuck open. ]

Glad to see they treat you well though, I had some bad service the first time, but after that its been smooth sailing.

Ps. maybe we should try and get a mini SD meet together soon. I'm out in North PB/La Jolla. If you're ever out this direction PM me,
I'm in PB as well, who is your SA at BMW San Diego. I use Glenn Widdop, that guy is the shit

I'm so happy to have her back . The alternator and belt tensioner were replaced. I can now truly say that she handles better than that car I just returned.
She's peppier, feels lighter, brakes better, steers better and looks better.
Damage: $288.00 (saved $30 by being a BMW CCA member)
Alternator $936.11 Belt Tensioner $127.44 Labor: I don't know,2-3 hrs??
Add the diagnostics and others. I'm glad I got the Original Owner Protection Program .

On many modern (electronically-enhanced) vehicles, a weak battery or a bad alternator will throw a handful of codes.

BTW, don't ever replace battery and alternator at same time. If a mechanic recommends that, he has a boat payment to make. Statistically, they almost never go out at same time.

Glad to hear that your car feels peppier and lighter, etc. Whenever my son changes his oil, he says it feels a lot faster than it used to be.

Placebo effect!!

Terry Zito is my SA.
When I went in the first time about a month ago, he really wouldn't give me the time of day, which I believe is because I am only 21 years old. Still, I'm driving an E60, and taking it to the dealership I felt like I deserved some respect. I was told they would need the car for days, and that he would call me the next day for an update. That day came, and no update. I called the next day to check on the car, and no reply. Finally on the day the car was supposed to be done, he finally picked up my call, only to tell me they needed the car for a few more days. It was quite frustrating.

But, alas, everything has changed, and he is now a solid SA.

How about that little 5erGT showing this afternoon at BMW of SD... Is anyone else going??

Good question. I don't know exactly why, but I have a feeling it might be from BMW of San Diego. We're on the same par here.
