Titanium Grey II is a great colour.

Agree with all that has been said about the colour looking different in different light conditions. In my opinion always good / interesting.

Reading Merv the Derv's signature he took delivery of his 535d in March 2005, which meant that he should have Titanium Gray II.
That's his old car. If you look just under his main sig you'll see

"530d Auto, delivered 29/09/03 sold 29/03/05 with 19,500 miles, Titanium Grey"

This my Titanium Grey II

jiio,

Did you resolve this? Looking at the picture yours looks to be Titanium Gray II to me.

This is a topic that was discussed at length early in the E60 production.

I have a MY04 built in March 04. It is Titanium Grey II (as indicated by the tag under the hood/bonet). At least in the US, Titanium Grey I was never offered as an E60 color. The early discussion of TGII was that it had a more greenish hue. TG I, offered with the E39, was considered a nicer color because it had a more blueish hue.

I think if you see a TG E39 and a TG E60 side-by-side, you'll agree with this assesment.

I think the E60 has had two shades of Titanium Gray, so Titanium Gray I is not, at least in this case, a reference to model E39. Older E60s in Titanium Gray seem slightly greener than newer E60s in Titanium Gray. The new gray looks more sprightly, but the the earlier gray was more distinct in this time of dark gray cars.

Colors by Era:

70s = copper and bronze
80s = candy apple red
90s = forest green
00s = dark gray

I definately have an older E60 (the first model year) and it's definately Titanium Gray II. So do you think that TG II has been modified since it was first offered?

Here's a link to one of the very early topics discussing the switch from "Titanium Gray," code 892, to "Tatanium Grey II," code A36, for the new E60. Note the change in spelling as well!

Well, the year is the most telling. Production of Titanium Gray I stopped sometime in late 2004. Most, if not all, 2005 are Titanium Gray II.

The surest way to tell is to open your hood and look for A36. That is the paint code for TGII.
Responding to my own post.

I did some research a few months back about TGI and TII. If I recall correcty, the e60s where released in Fall 2003 with TGI (892)as production 2004 e60s. Then right around December 2004 - January 2005, BMW switched to TGII (A36). As part of my research I ,too, found the link that hinckley provided: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...um%20Grey&st=15.

I retract what I said about the production year being a telling sign of which TG you will have. It does NOT. Again, the absolute surest way is to open the hood/bonnet and look for the color code: TGI = 892, TGII = A36.

I am certain that TG II does not contain any hints of green, at least my car doesn't.

I thought the e39 Ti Grey was an awesome color. I didn't realize Ti Grey had changed until I had ordered the new 5. I'm very happy with the new Ti Grey as I think it fits the e60 a little bit better.

Yup, that's the original TG. Note the blue hue. It was a beautiful color.
