Tires?
#1
Ok, I read a lot of complaints about the run flats. I have the original Continental run flats on my 530i, and will need to replace them soon. The tires I have now seem fine to me. They handle well, aren't noisy, and ride just fine. Or do I not know any better since they are the only tires I have used on this car? I really like the idea of run flats for safety and getting to work on time, are regular tires much better? Recomendations from anyone here in the U.S. ? How bout Michelins? Thanks, I'm confused!

Non RFT's are very different, if you can get Michelin PS2's or Goodyear GS-D3's you will notice a massive improvement.

I am not using RFT and have no spare wheel at the back so I have to call a van to pick my car up if I have a flat tyre but that OK i'm in HK and itis very small.

I switched from runflats to Michelin PS2.
The Michelins are so much better, it's not even funny. It is like a completely different car. Ride is much smoother, and more comfortable.... yet performance is still great.

The michelin PS2 are soooo much better, I just got them last week and I am amazed at the difference, its like a whole different car. In the USA we get a spare tire, so its no big deal. If you get a flat and you dont feel like changing the tire, you can push the BMW assist button.

Maybe I am in the minority here.
If I get a flat tire, I dial for service on my mobile, or I hit the BMW assist button.
I would only grab for my spare if I were out of a commercial area.
I see some merit of RFs when traveling high speeds, but is all of this worth the constant problems associated with RFs?
I am tempted to ditch my spare without RFs just to save the extra space.
Knowing me though, the day that I ditch my spare will be the day that I need it.

Just say "NO!" to runflats. The trade-off of their supposed safety is not worth their noise and rock-hard ride. I endured them for far too long. I replaced mine with PS2's a few weeks ago. Now every time I drive my car, I think to myself, "Why did I wait so long to do this!" I no longer cringe every time I drive on rough pavement, especially in a curve. The ride is now what it should be with no apparent loss of handling. I have an emergency spare in the trunk, so if I get a flat, I can limp home with a little extra effort on my part.

I understand that runflat wheels cannot accept a non RF tire?
THus to change would require a new set of rims.
ANd if leased, it must be returned with RUnflats in good running condition.
Correct?

Incorrect! A number of us have replaced RFT's with conventional tires and used the original rims.
