My 525i MY05 don?t want to downshift without a kickdown sometimes. Fo5r an example I drive in 20 Mph, make a turn an want to accelarte then It wont downshift, still it?s in gear 3 or 4 or and are unwilling to get a proper acceleration.
Is this something that new software helps???

I drove a 2005 525i as a dealer loaner a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that you had to give it quite a bit of throttle to get it to downshift. I think that that's done for fuel economy reasons. So there might not be anything wrong with your car.

gdavis, I agree...for the 525, you MUST use the DS mode to get the full capability from the engine. Without it, you are leaving the decision up to the computer entirely and acceleration may not be its number one priority. It is definately not the only priority to the powertrain ECU.
