My current ride have 244 style wheels w 225/50 17" Dunlop RFT's.
Now I'm about to order a new car and I'm opting for 245 style wheels (opt code 2KM).![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
I've noticed that, according to the Swedish pricelist, they come w 245/45 RFT tires!?...except with the 550i they come with the same 225/50 RFT tires that I have now (std wheels)!
Does anyone know why the difference in size - both being 17"?
Are the 245/45 tires of the same make as the 225/50 (Dunlop RFT)?
And, will the diff in size have any impact on the car? ...less/more stable on the road?!
(This apply for both E60 and E61)
Thanks

245 is a bit more grip compared to 225 cause it's slightly wider by 20 mm...I did the switch over myself and I like it. But tire pressure recommendation is different for both sizes...so be aware. I did not notice any extra noise etc. 245 seems like a good balance to me. I have a Porsche 911 with 295 rear and I can feel every imperfection on the road which I hate but then it corners better than anything except may be ferrari...so there is always trade-off with tire width.

Do you know the make of the 245/45 tires? (OEM)
Is it Dunlop as for the 225/50's

thought I would swap them for non rft but actually, they are not too bad. WIll definately get none rft in the future though as I have the small spare wheel.

you can search on discounttire.com and figure out all the available brands for the size. BMW uses different brands for OEM (Contis etc etc) and you can't choose your tire brand when you buy a new car...yeah it's weird. I like BF Goodrich...good balance of performance, price, low noise and good tread wear.
