I have a couple of questions, that I am sure you guys can help me with. Does my car need to have its tires rotated? Second is this included in the scheduled maintenance that comes with each new BMW or should the dealer charge for it?

I have a 2006 525 with 15000 miles on it. It has the standard non-run flats 225/50/17.

Thanks for your help.

According to my SA, BMW does not suggest tire rotation. I haven't rotated, and they appear to be wearing evenly.

My '05 530d Sport has done 32,000 miles on it's original runflats and I have had them swapped front to back today. As the car is going back at the end of March I didnt want to shell out for a new set of rears so I swapped the fronts with 5mm tread left with the rears which only had 2mm left.

Looking at my driving profile I'd get through two sets of rears for each front set.

Have rotated my winters this year compared to last year, and no problem whatsoever.

Was it a straight swap or a rotation (crossing over as appropriate)?

It was just a straight wheel swap, front to back. It just means that as the rears wear faster than the fronts I can stretch out another couple of thousand on the existing tyres before the car gets part exe'd at the end of March. No point in spending ?360 on tyres for a months driving.

If I rotate, I usually just 'rotate' front to back (without criss-crossing)
Many modern tyres are unidirectional and criss-crossing is a pain.
