Does the factory "maintainence" on my 525xi include tire rotation, or should I do it myself.

I am NOT paying the dealer for a tire rotation, I KNOW that!

My experience with BMWs over the past 20+ years is that unless you're prepared to rotate front to rear and visa versa [due to directional tires it's usually not possible to x-rotate our tires] very very frequently (e.g. 5K mile intervals) it's best to keep 'em where they are and expect that unique wear patterns are the norm for BMW cars. As a result, rotating at longer intervals may result in handling issues and even more rapid tire wear.

ya rotation is not reccomended by the dealer and I do believe them on this as the camber settings on our cars and most bmws are pretty aggressive in the negative direction and that causes a very unique wear pattern that is not conducive to switching the tires around. The inside wear on the tires with negative camber cannot relocate and work normally-it causes handling issues. I never rotate and my tires wear evenly and fine so I wouldnt worry about it honestly..

What a conundrum. It appears the only solution is to pay the dealer NOT to rotate your tires.

Thanks for the input.

Does anybody have the "torque values" for the lug-nuts on a 535xi?

According to my 2009 535xi manual, the proper bolt torque is 88.5 ft/lbs or 120 Nm.
