Thumbs up

To begin with, I have to say, I am glad that I bought the tire insurance (US$800 for 3 years). I recently had a nail puncture that caused a slow leak. Dealership charged off US$500 for the replancement plus install!! Outrageous to say the least, however, from TireRack, the one(1) tire alone is US$300.00! The even comped me a loaner for the day it took them to replace the tire!

Here is my real question... I noticed today that they replaced the tire with a higher speed rating. My OEM tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT (245/40ZR18 - 93W). The replacement is not a "93W" however, it is a "93Y" (W=168 mph [270 km/h]; Y=186 mph [300 km/h]).

Does it mater? My only concern would be that they are constructed differently, and therefore may have differing ride, wear, and/or handling characteristics.

Let me know what you think!

Actually there's no differance in practice.

But if you have changed from RF's to non RF's you would be a winner.

just make sure you stay a bit under the rated top speed bud and you will be fine
