I need recommendations on tires for my '06 525i w/ sports package. currently have Sumitomo htz 11, they held up pretty well for 35000 miles wit excellent handling in dry & wet conditions. The only gripe i have about 'em is a the road noise, which to me seemed more than the OEM. I am looking for great handling summer tires with not too much road noise. Also is it better to stick with Runflats or regular tires. Thanks

Regular tyres over runflats definitely.

I'm running Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 on my summer setup and I have nothing to complain.

+1. I put the Hankook V12's on myself for my summer setup. Very happy with them.

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Nothing beats them.

IMHO RFTs or conventional is a matter of personal preference and driving conditions. TireRack has been posting solid reviews on a newer Continental tire http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e&autoModClar=.

If you check it out and decide to buy there shop thru the link in my signature to get add'l rebates.

I have General Exclaim UHP conventional tires on CSL reps for my winter setup and they're good for my driving style on a 530xi. In the summer I do like the Bridgestone RFTs that were the originals in my 18" 'sport' set-up.

After considering all the options i believe i am gonna go with Hankook V12 evo. several forum members recomm it as best price 2 performance ratio. Also the CAR & DRIVER ARTICLE AND REPUTABLE GERMAN MAGAZINE ARTICLE did it for me. Also $430 installed w/ Rebate, can't beat that. Thanks 4 the advice fellas.Hoping it's the decision !!!

I'm surprised that your Sumitomo htz lasted so long, I'm also surprised that yours were noisey too. Mined are quite but they did not last anywhere near 35k although I do have them on a lowered car.

They Definetly lasted pretty good. As far as noise i think they might get louder as they wear but as i recall i have always felt they were a bit loud & harsh in everyday driving. That said they look amazing, the profile s well as the tread pattern also no doubt about their performance, xcellent cornering and i drove 25 miles on the freeway (in hindsight a dumb thing to do, but i had to be somewhere) after the tire loss indicator light came on & they still protected the rim so quite good sidewalls. quite good. The new HTZ 111 have been getting rave reviews but the noise factor and the Buzz about Hankook is what flipped me.

Had OEM Bridgestones RFT's. Done around 30,000 miles on em but started getting punctures way too often. Once a nail got into my sidewall and had to change that tire - so changed all 4 of em. The new tires are Dunlop Direzza's 245/45 R17. They are non RFT's and 1/4th of the cost of an equivalent run flat.

Love the handling and most of all, enjoy the ride quality. At the price i got em, it was a no brainer
