sorry forgot to update. went back to dealer. tpms (tirerack or oem) need to be coded by dealer if they are different then the ones that came with the car. covered under warranty as long as they are oem. tirerack tpms =1 hour of labor

I wanted to clarify something. I just bought a set of OEM Beru TPMS for my summer wheels (didn't feel like swapping them out from winters), and you mean to tell me they have to be coded by the stealer?

If this is the case, I will just swap out the sensors from my winter wheels to not deal with the hassle. My tire guy wouldn't charge me to mount/remount.

Thanks for clarifying.

Could this be model year dependent? This winter I swapped out my 172's to a non-oem winter setup with TPMS and no coding was required. The sensors in the non-oem wheels were identified immediately, did the reset in the TPMS iDrive screen and no problems since -- and we have COLD winters up here (today was relatively mild at -20c )

Yes. I know for sure that MY 2010 TPMs came with a different "something". They are still 433 Mgz but something (coding?) has changed. Anyway, I got a set of BERU TPMs from tirerack early December and had no problem with them. The car itself gets crazy when temperatures get below 20F and it is left sitting outside for more than 6 hours but TPMs so far had no issues.

im so fuking pissed. im all ready to go to my dealership to drop off for this problem a 4th time!! and they called me and said they no longer have a loaner for me because i didnt buy the car from them. they said they would no longer cover this issue because my car just hit 50k miles and they arent sure how to fix it so they wont attempt it without purchasing new monitors for the 3rd time!.

they just gave me the cold shoulder even tho this problem has been going on for months.

FUCK YOU BMW OF FREEHOLD, you just lost a valueable customer.

i cant believe this ive never been treated like this anywhere, especially at a bmw dealership. i guess im stuck with this problem now... im completely lost for words
