My Ride: 2005.5 545i, Silver Grey, Dakota Black, Anthracite, Premium, Cold, Sport, L7, Nav, Fold Down Seats, Sunshades, Sirius.

I experienced the tire pressure monitoring system for the 6 months I had the new Acura RL. It was as accrurate as my quality guage and the way to go...except if you want to change wheels. Most are not able to use the sensor system, and in the case of the RL, you had to live with the error message.

[/quote]No, wheels. Many aftermarket wheels do not offer the specific capability to install the TPM Sensor, yet others will. If you had a car with this system and the wheel mfr was top notch you would see in his configurator that they did or did not support the sensor. Getting back to the proposed BMW change, those folks that had a specific wheel in mind might be disappointed at first as most likely they will not be sensor ready. That said, the better mfrs will try to be right on top of this and try to be ready with product as soon as the new TPM version hits the street.
