I had my first set of Dunlop RFTs replaced after about 6K miles (no charge) because of noise issues. I thought I was getting the new, improved version that corrected the noise problem, but it is recurring on the replacement set as well after about 5K miles on them. Anyone else have noise issues on their replacement Dunlops?

Yes, people have reported this issue with even the replacements. Some customers who have contact Dunlop say that Dunlop swears up and down that there isn't a newer "version" of that tire, and haven't actually acknowledged any problems. BMW dealers are replacing tires for customers who still have the issue. There must be some lot of tires, or some manufacturing process, or some other issue that is causing this to occur with only some tires.

For BMW's official bulletin on this, see http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/bullet...mp/B360205g.htm

Hi das,

Thanks for the link! I'm sure it'll help everyone having problems with their Dunlops and those BMW dealers who claim not to know anything about this problem.

I was surprised to see the "20,000 miles or less" reference! I've been hearing from other fellow BMW owners that the dealers, if you're lucky, are only exchanging the tires if they have less than 10,000 miles on them.

Awesome to actually see the *real* bulletin!

Good Luck, TXPearl.

Anyone outside the states had any luck with this?

It would be nice if they replace them with a different brand. Just my opinion.

At this very minute, my 2nd set of Dunlops are being replaced with Pirelli P-Zeros (non-runflats), that I purchased through TireRack.com.

I couldn't believe it when I started having the same premature wear problems again.

My next BMW will not have Dunlops (or runflats for that matter) from the start. I will make it a condition of the sale!

Does the negative camber on the cars have anything to do with the uneven tire wear?

Indeed... That inside edge is more stressed.

So isn't it more of a function of the car rather than the fault of dunlop. I'd rather have increased handling over increased treadwear myself.

I am convinced the problem is with the car, I replaced the dunlops with Good Year Eagle F1, I have 7k miles on those and the problem is back. and I had the car aligned when I installed them.
