My dealer offered it for around $700. No deductible and it covers replacement of flat tires and rims if they are damaged so badly that the tire won't hold air. Well, 9 free tires and two free rims later here I am It will be well worth the $1100 to cover the 19's on my new 550i. The interesting thing is that the coverage is for 5 years even though I will only have the car for 2. No telling how many more I would go through if I kept the car longer.

Sorry to say you were taken. Had the Dunlop RFT replaced at the dealer JMK BMW, $440 and change total cost for everthing. After the fact I purchased Wheel and Tire coverage from Paragon Auto Club $27. + per year. $350.00 per incident, $1400.00 annually.
cheers

Hi Vern, I'm interested in the Paragon Insurance. Have you used it yet? If so, were you satisfied with their service? Or, do you know anyone who has used them? Just trying to get some input beyond what was on the website. Thanks.

I know that I was able to buy the 3rd party insurance after I had owned my X5 for about 6 months, I've now owned it for 3 years and never used it but it's nice to know it's there. In Canada BMW is now selling their own tire and wheel insurance due to some probems they encountered with their previous vendors....We have it on my wifes 6 and it will be credited to my new car as well ( when it gets here)

Good Luck

While I have recommended theautoclub.com insurance many times, keep in mind that if you have wheel AND tire damage, there is a generous co-pay since there is a limit of $350 per incident and (especially) RF tires by themselves cost this much, not to mention a $700 wheel.

If you believe your chances of using it are fairly low, then it makes sense to go this route and effectively self-insure part of the risk by virtue of the savings on the premium.

I'm looking into i tnow...any suggestions as to a good company?

thx!
My coverage via "InTire" 800.221.8062. Mention me and the may tell you to f**k off.

Cost was $899 for five year coverage.

My first (only) claim so far was for a Conti tire and bent 172, wrecked by a pot hole. They cost more to replace than the cost of the 5 year coverage.

Those folks never batted an eye with this claim ... I didn't shell out a dime.

Very pleased!

JSpira recomended them to me. I haven't had the opportunity to use them and I hope I never have to but for $27.95 per year how can you go wrong even if you only get $350.per incident and $1400.00 annually and piece of mind.Llike I said in my other post $440 for the RFT less $350 is not hard to take for $27.95 a year.
cheers

I got the math component. I guess my point was whether or not they are easy to work with when you have a claim. Every insurer is all smiles when it's time to take your money, but often the relationship takes a turn when you ask for coverage. I'm just curious if anyone has purchased Paragon's policy and collected on it, and if so, were they cool or difficult? Thanks.

I'm glad you got the math. By reading the outline of their coverage and what their procedure is to get reimbursed I don't thing you will have a problem. But of course I could be wrong, I hope not.
Go to their web site and you can get all the information. www.paragonautoclub.com.
Good luck
cheers

That would be my question as well...insurance is useless if it is pure hassle to get them to honor a claim. These days time is my most valuable commidity and I just don't have the spare bandwidth nor inclination to argue/go back and forth with a clerical person over a claim.

Just priced a new rear tire $440.00 (OUCH)! Going to take it in next week and see if it is repairable or not...keeping my fingers crossed!

You got that right,$440 OUCH, thats why I got the coverage for $27.95 per year even if its a bit of a hassle with the claim, which I don't think it will be, so be it.
