Time to say good bye - what to get?!
How many times have I said this? At least five... probably more.
I won't bore you guys with the details, but let's just say that the amount of money I've dumped into the bottomless pit of a car that my E60 has been to me, is far in excess of anything required to attain an awesome lease on an M3 or a 750i M Sport. Hence, I have to actually make a decision with my head this time, and do it right.
Let's put aside my E60 for now - its fate shall be what it shall be. My question to you guys - whom I respect and love, even though I haven't posted here in months - my question is: what is a better driver's car on the market today?
A little insight in what I've looked at:
-F10 550/535 (M sport, naturally) or even the Gran Turismo 550 (I wouldn't mind it too much)
my impression from the F series 5er are disappointing. It seems to require some modding to drive like a proper driver's car. And it is a little more bulky, than what I want. Besides, the LCI F10 is due out soon, and I don't want to get a car that will become "oldish" in a hurry.
-A6/A7
lots of people are praising Audis these days - and deservedly so. Audi has improved greatly. However, I don't like them enough to justify the price.
-Lexus GS350 AWD
Actually, came away really impressed by Lexus after a test drive. It is, by far, the best car for the money, but the exterior styling is not my cup of tea.
this brings me to the actual contenders (they'll speak for themselves):
1. F30 335i xDrive M Sport (since it doesn't come with a DCT, I'd probably prefer the stick)
2. Audi S4
3. Used Porsche Boxster (not practical, but probably the best driver's car in this group)
4. X5 (hardly a driver's car, but I can justify it to myself)
5. Cayenne Diesel - yes, diesel Cayenne! Expensive as hell, but this thing can MOVE! Though, improbable in my case due to a high price.
I'm guessing, I'm leaving out some options, so I'd love to hear what you guys have to say.

As I'm looking into it more, it's looking like 335 vs S4. Plus of the S4 is that it does come with the Dual-Clucth gearbox. What about raw numbers though? Anyone driven both?
Great head2head comparo, but I wonder if an M Sport 335 XDrive with the adaptive suspension would be as much of a let-down? Probably not, I'm guessing the Bimmer was just a little underdressed for the date...

Congrats on the new ride! I've looked into an LCI E60 535Xi, but I want something more modern. I'm ready to make the move into the newer generation of platforms and technology

Vlad, given your situation, this could be the last time for a long time you have the opportunity to get a true sports car. In that case, I have to vote for either the Boxster (preferably a Boxter S) or an older 911.
