So after 6 years i think its time to replace my battery...

i called few places and they recommended interstate batteries vs. OEM. They claim you get the same results and interstate is more cost effective.

i found a place down in san jose who deals with primarily BMW and spoke with JOE, he said they can install and program the battery for $220 (parts and labor)

I think the oem battery alond is $200 or $250 plus labor..

what do you guys think?

this is the battery

I'm told that AGM-type batteries cannot be properly registered on some e60's (early 2007 and older).

Just had the AGM BWM battery 61-217-594-976 installed under warranty in a 2008 528i.

Let's hope this one last longer than the OEM; 3.5 years. I found the following specs for this new battery on a different forum:

BCI Group Size = 49
Din Size = H8
Voltage = 12
Cold Cranking Amps at 0 degrees F = 900
Cranking Amps at 32 degrees F = 1,035
Reserve Charge = 180 minutes
20 hour Amp hour rate = 95
Type = AGM
Length = 15 9/16"
Width = 6 7/8"
Height = 7 1/2"

That battery will be too small and not fit correctly in your battery tray. You will also have to fabricate a vent tube extension since the tube in the car won't reach.

You should check the battery specs for your MY on realoem. My car required an 850CCA battery. Another member posted a terrific thread in the DIY section. Took his advice and got the Duralast 95R-DLG at Auto Zone for $170 installed - perfect fit. Found an indy that did the coding for $50 and have been running fine since.

the link does not work but what I see its Interstate battery, right? if so, I replaced my battery few months ago with intesrstate, I think the size written on the battery is 93. the car runs great no issue with it. go for it and save money and no worries coz interstate batteries come with 5 year warranty
