Yes. I'm not totally sure, but I think you can activate it in IDrive by pressing menu, then pressing down on the controller and going to settings>vehicle...or something like that

Edit: I'm wrong, I don't think there is a way to turn it on and off. Something I read is to move the wheel all the way up until it stops. Then keep hitting the button a couple of times to make it move a bit further up. Next move the wheel all the way down and repeat hitting the button a couple of times to make it move down a bit more. This procedure supposedly resets the exit feature. If that doesn't work, try resetting one of your seat memory positions. That has worked for some. Good luck

I believe you'll see no movement if the steering wheel is in the default position. Try adjusting it on the side by moving it downwards; it should rise when you shut off the engine.

On my 2010 535i, the auto rise/lower steering wheel function turned on and stayed when I set the wheel in a lower than default position and saved via memory.

If you have memory seats, you have this function- it can be turned on in Idrive settings menue. If no memory seats, you dont have, as far as I know

My car has this feature. 2005 545i with Comfort Seats.

When ignition turned off, the steering column raises to the top position. It lowers then ignition started again.

Let me get this straight, even with the car on, moving it manually with switch up or down didn't work? But moving it in and out did? Could it be a bad switch maybe?

Here's what I did: Start the car, move the wheel all the way up then all the way down (if you can't get this to happen then you're SOL, if you can then continue reading). Center it. Now move all the way in and then all the way out. Then back in approximately half way. Turn car off.

It should move. At least mine did and for good measure I resetted my memory. For some reason my wheel was just stuck in one position. When the wifey uses her key the seat and mirrors would adjust but never the wheel and when I used mine, same thing. It now moves out of the way when I leave the car. Hope this helps.
