Dear all,

I experience a 'tiak/tuck' sound whenever I start the engine. It sounds like its coming from beneath and behind the car, around the gear area. It goes off after just one 'tuck' sound.

Currently driving a fairly new 523i (2 months), any kind souls here have any clues?

Is the car in gear? If it isn't, then it couldn't be the differential. Perhaps the fuel pump?

Can you record it and post it here?

Car's in 'P' with handbrakes engaged. Will try to get a recording if possible.Sounds awfully like its coming from the gears.

Don't think is from the rear door's rubber as the sound disappears after that single 'tuck'.
