I am still having a lag/jerk effect when launching in automatic

mode. It doesn't happen in sport mode. Is there a definitive fix?

software version information would help, or if you don't know that, model year and when your car was built (look in the driverside door). I know that for me a software update, from 11.0 to 15.0 has gotten rid of it. If you are on an older software version, go to the dealer and complain. Might even throw in a few about ther iDrive or other issue that will get you a software update.

What kscarrol said. I always thought this lag thing did not apply to me in a 6spd. I guess it just manifested itself differently. My upgrade to CIP 16.1 from 13.3 has made a marked difference in overall performance and engine smoothness.

I have a manual as well and use to think that other cars were much more rev happy than the e60. Well either I've gotten use to it or the recent SW upgrade did the trick.

Ditto for me.....I upgraded to 16.2 a few weeks ago, and it solved the throttle lag completely for me. I was VERY unhappy with the car's acceleration for quite some time. I started driving in DS all the time to mitigate the lag, but it was still there to some extent. Now, with 16.2, I only drive in D, and the car literally purrs as it accelerates smoothly, and strongly!!

Has anyone notice any difference going from v.15.2 to v.16.2? I wonder if it's worth the effort.

I was thinking of waiting until Sept for MP3 support then upgrade.

I just picked up my 545i a couple of weeks ago and it was a mid March build so I assume it has the most current software. I feel mine stutter on initial acceleration in automatic. <_< I don't notice it in DS mode.

the stutering in mine was solved with some adjustment made by the dealer. Not software!
