I am new to the board. Having owned many vehicles, I oftern do non-invasive searches to see what I can find. I have an '04 530 with a 7/04 build date. The car was not ordered with the satellite prep. However, just below the puny little amp on the base stereo system was three unused wires, one power connection, one antenna connection, one fiber optic connection. I do not believe this is for the CD changer as I believe that is in the glove box. I am wondering and hoping that somehow the builder/builders of my auto were drinking to much schnapps the day before the build and put the Sirius kit in the car. By the way I do not have nav.

These wires are in the bottom of the trunk attached to the unibody Bundled to the Amp wires) on the drivers side between the small standard Amp and the tail light, 12 inches below the area where the sirius unit would be mounted.

To me it looks like your car is prewired for sirius and that's what you found.

BTW, welcome aboard!

By the way, my search revealed that the stock amp is NOT in anyway fiber optic. It is completely analog which would therefore make for easy game for upgrading the stock stereo using line out converters and good quality Amps such as JL Audio Alpine or ADS

There are little plastic screws need to be loosened with a flat head screw driver and then pry them a little so they do not break. The Carpeted piece then comes right off. You will see the plugs unobstructed attached to the unibody. Good Luck!

Also, the 3 series premium package comes standard with the sirius pre-wire. Maybe this is what BMW is doing with the 5 series now.

Thanks everyone for there warm welcome.
