I too use the term 'ghetto' to describe things from time to time, but I dont intend on it being racist. The vernacular has changed, but I understand why some may find it racist or discriminatory. I would replace it with 'budget', but like one post says - it definitely costs money to do all that stuff.

When I see a nice BMW which has been surgically operated on in a manner such as the OP pic, it straight up hurts. It was a great car, and now has none of the amazing functionality in handling and all that.

To each their own.

Um... if you brought that to the ghetto, it would stick out like a sore thumb..

definitely can't be ghetto. At least not in the bay area... maybe Dubai-ish ghetto?

well the term isnt directly related TO or FROM the ghetto. I believe the vernacular is more like 'less than stellar' of sorts.

People in Dubai dont do stuff like that. Not since the last time I was there at least and people I've spoken with. They're more peformance oriented there.

I love the bay area. I shall move there one day...

I was there last year opening Atlantis...and I can unequivocally say that more than a few DO drop, hack, mod, chrome, plate, and pretty much do whatever is within their means to do, performance or not. A trip down E-11 (Sheikh Zayed Road), to the Mall of the Emirates, or even to Nakheel's Sale's Center on Al Sufouh at Palm Jumeirah will include a few modded (or our new E60.net favorite term, "ghetto") rides. It's a global culture reaching all levels of society, irrespective of use of the culturally charged, endearing buzzword 'ghetto' to describe it.

^ Well said..
Obviously the owner's objective was to get as low was possible... IMO mission accomplished, prob looking at 10k just to customize a Air susp. kit for this.. And people please, this isn't the driving height
With some slight bodywork he can throw some negative offset wheels on there.. That's what I'm interested in.

It's a style "VIP Style", not "ghetto"..

And thanks everyone for the comments, thats what the thread was for.

I agree. There are plenty of people who have money and buy chrome spinners that can cost over 10k. do they look silly? yes. Are they ghetto? No, when i think of ghetto i think of poor and shitty. Are rims that cost 10k for poor people? No.

Im pretty positive you wouldnt see this car is the compton ghetto or any other ghetto.

It looks cool, but if you have a car like this don't you want to drive it, not show it?

You can tell when a luxury car crosses a certain price on the used market. The ghetto mods begin. Can undercarriage neons and a giant wing be far behind.
I agree with you on this. Have seen that happen a few times in the past as well.

I dont think it looks too bad in all honesty, the angle at which the picture is taken doesn't hep matters as you cant see how the front sits.
From what I can see, the arch (fender) sits on the rim line so its tucking rubber.
The rear however is tucking rim and that never looks great when the front isn't.

if the back was raised a few psi to sit on the tyre then it wouldnt look so bad.

I had the same problem on my old car, the airbags would be limited on the drop at the front because of the top mount in the engine bay so would max out after 130mm, but the rears had alot more space and would give me 155mm drop so the car sat at an angle.
Took me a while to clock on but just putting a few psi in the rear bags lets the car sit level, which IMO helps alot.

PS - Ride quality on air is abseloute shite......I know!
