I have the plain chrom finish license plate covers on both the back and the front. It works for me OK, but I am not complety sattisfied with the results. What have others done? Do you have any suggestions? Would love to see some pics (and where you purchased them). For me, the satin chrome does not flow well with the rest of the car - Thanks

Well, I'm Silver Gray, and IMHO I prefer a black license plate frame to a chrome one. (Then again I'm also the poser who likes to mess with people's minds by altering the middle number of my E60 type...)

My car is Titanium Silver, and I had a set of frames made at a car show. I went with semi-gloss black, then chose silver lettering that says BMW in block letters at the top, and The Ultimate Driving Machine at the bottom. I've had chrome (or hyper silver) on previous cars, but they were darker colors, so the contrast looked better in my opinion. Also, they tend to rust, or at least show it more easily. Not that it's a big deal since we're not talking big $$.

No frame... just a lightly smoked lexan cover with Balck screws.

Kind of just blends in.

that's what i used to have and got a ticket for it. not sure about up there but state law here prohibits anything covering the licence plate even if it is a transparent cover.

ever since then, i bought a simple silver/chrome colored plate holder, which matches with the chrome window trim. member gorovers has the black plate, but it matches with his shadowline trim since he has sport. just my opinion.

Is this frame thing a US feature. Because in the EU we just have plates screwed straight into the Lid or bumper.

Not a US thing. I have mine screwed straight into the trunk lid.
