I am thinking of trading in my 2005 525i for an 2005 745i certified pre owned. They just got it in off a lease and it was going right in to service to certifie, clean and prep. They did not have any figures yet for me. It's silver w/black leather. I like the looks of the 02-05 7 series I think it looks more edgy than the 06-08 (that's just me) I know alot of people hated the look but those same people didn't like how the E60 looked as well. I have not drove the car yet because they just got it in when I got there and they couldn't let me drive it and they didn't have any other E65's to just let me drive it to see if I even liked the ride (I'm sure I will) but in all what do you guys think? I trust you people way more than dealerships.... I was also looking at 06 CLS500's and LOVE the look, liked the ride but I just feel more at ease with BMW's warranty over Mercedes's am I wrong to think that way???

Please let me know what you all think...

Thank you..

Very different cars, the 7 is much larger a lot more powerful with all the luxury goodies but is not as nimble as your 525. Gas consumption will be significantly higher and I suspect servicing will be more frequent ( the 7 has been a technical problem child for BMW ) .Why not checkout a 545 or 550. One test drive will sort the issue out for you.

Cheers

I thought with the 6 speed trans. the gas consumption in the 7's arn't that bad? Plus I thought I read somewhere that the 02's where pretty bad w/problems but 03-05 have been fine? I could be wrong. I just wish there was a site for the 7's like we have for the 5.. Why does the E60.net site have to be so great

I was close w/a certified pre owned w/that blue color grey inside w/just about every option I just didn't like Herb Chambers (dealership in Boston) and It was a little to high for what I wanted to pay.... loved the car, look is what makes me love it, but hard to see out the back and I love how BMW everything is covered and I hear nightmares about the problems w/Mercedes

I also love the look of the MB but I think you've got the right idea about quality and warranty issues. I don't , think BMW got the 7 fixed until the LCI . Plus they did a nice job with the trunk and front end.
Cheers

For what it's worth, my 545 and my 550 were the two least reliable cars I've ever owned.

I hear you and my car has been in for some stupid stuff too' (sun roof noise, restrant issue 2 times, window trap) but that's just it BMW still will fix that and change your oil, change your window wipers, replace your brakes and roters for free (well for the 4 years anyway) now the certified 2 more years does it still cover all that? Lastly we think we have it bad? We still get ranked up in the top for service where as Mercedes is always in the bottom so imagian how they must feel?

Think the build date was 09/04 they did not know as of then when the delevery date was to start the warrenty.

the two extra years of the cpo does not cover maint... only covers other stuff.. no brakes, wipers, oil ect... they do offer the maint package for 1200 for the next 2 yrs or 50k miles wich i plan to buy after my factory warranty is up next aug.
