You'll be disapointed I can tell you that. Most of my friends who took their stock M3 weren't happy with suspension too soft. Imagine driving your boat there, well unless its just a short and safe sprint.

But, many of us talk about the other cars in the family and driving them.
znod: yeah, i know. i just couldn't picture a big truck running around the track. maybe she was talking about running the dually on the drag strip. that i've seen...even beat a few rice rockets.

Just take your car to the track and have fun with it. Sure there is a little wear and tear, but nothing to worry about.

An e60 may not be a sports car, but that doesn't mean it can't be driven hard and aggressive. If it's your first time at the track, you will probably be focusing on your line and technique so your tires and brakes shouldn't see that much abuse.
Agree !!! I think it's rubish to talk about risks and wear and tear on an E60 on a track. Hell of course there are way better track cars out there, but that doesn't mean the E60 can't perform. I say do it. Track car E60? Well some do it and do it good. See the 535d with quite some tuning on board that performs very well. I didn't track my car but sometimes i drove very very hard even drifting at quite high speeds. Nothing happens to the car, except the tires get punished. You are not driving a yugo or whatever crappy track car. You are driving a rear wheel drive sedan, that is quite heavy yes, but has the chassis and the setup to cope with such driving easily. Just pay attention to the weight changing, my adivce. Otherwise have fun, and ohhh i forgot DSC off.
It doesn't matter too much what you drive but how you drive. For all you guys that think that the E60 doesn't belong at all to a track ask sabine how she almost beat the time that Jeremy Clarkson set in a jag Xtype 2.7 D, in a Ford Transit!!!! Topic is on the forum. Cheers.

I don't know much about truck racing, but they even race semis without the trailers. Those things fly big time. I think I could win a NASCAR with one of them. Just roll right over everyone else.

off topic: octee, your husband tracks a dually (noticed your sig)?

on topic: i say do it. where else could you test out your re-map safely with no other cars around you? but i wouldn't go all out and drive it like a rental. leave the hard driving to the boxster and caterham.
Yup, he runs his dually at Moroso here in West Palm Beach, FL.. it's a 1/4 mile track and he beats plenty of ricers...

You're right, it's not the regular track, just the 1/4 mile...

I haven't completely ruled it out yet for my car but even he comments that when he's in my car, he feels like it's too "nice" to be too agressive in it.

Yup! It's like "one or two beers"! You promice to take only on or two and after a while You have had too many!!

It's actually diesel and it lasts a LOT longer than mine does... granted bigger tank etc, but he fuels up every 2.5 weeks...

The only factor drawing me back from the track is insurance. I think they don't cover accident happen on the track.
