you can fit a normal wheel in there, except it will not be flush with the floor but stick out quite a bit.

In NYC, I never put any expensive spare tires in the back. I use valet parking a couple of times a month and I've heard around and even know people that will steal spare tires and sell it back out as a set usually. i was in the big apple one time and left 300$ cash in the car with the valet driver but when i came back it was still there.
thank God, i had toll money to come back home.
