thinking about getting new wheels, need help :)
#1
Hi guys:
Last night we ran off the road, and blew two tires and put some serious scuff on my two wheels. My baby was towed home last night. Good news is no one got hurt, and now I convince my wife to get some new wheels.
My question though is whether the wheels I am going to buy is going to fit my non-sport 545i. The two sets I am considering are 245/35/19 front with 275/30/19 rear; and 245/35/20 front with 275/30/20 rear. Will I have any problems fitting any of these two sets?
Thanks

Those are tire sizes not wheel sizes so I can't comment if the wheels will fit.
In general although some people scream "go for 20's" I have occasionally read of people having rubbing issues. And the side wall on a 20" wheel tire combo is a joke (very small)
I would go with 19" wheels and tires but that?s me. Plus where I live the roads eat 20" wheels.
Makes sure you buy quality wheels and tires. Nothing can ruin the ride of you expensive German sport sedan faster than cheap wheels and tires.

The most important thing is that no one got hurt. Think of this as a golden oppotunity to buy some kick ass new wheels. I'm a big fan of the OEM style 172 (my wheels) and style 167 wheels and I also like the 166s. There are also some great aftermarket wheels in 19 inch sizes.

Glad to hear no one got hurt. I agree w/ what sdg1871 said about 20 vs 19.
What type of wheel are you looking for because I'm your man to buy from if you decide to.

To me, the appropriate wheel size depends on where you live. If you live someplace with no winter and good roads that won't eat a wheel and tire, 20s are fine. If you live somewhere where the seasons do change and the roads get potholed and broken up (like my hometown of New York City), I am not a fan of 20s for practical/suvivability reasons. I run on 19s which look great but do take a beating over the sharpest potholes. I could not imagine running on 20s where I live.

Thanks, guys. I am looking at some 167 rims, with 245/40/19 front, and 275/35/19 rear tires, will these tires be any problem to install on my car?
