We all know that BMW lets their technology trickle down the model range, i.e. from the 7er to the 5er to the 3er etc.
Well, I got a chance to test drive the 750i and while it is a fantastic car, I must admit that there are certain features of the 750i (or the 7er in general) that I hope never make it to the E60 (or any later iteration of the 5er). My list:
1. Shift stalk.
2. Auto trunk close
3. Steering wheel shift buttons
4. Rear iDrive (for the Li)

Man I wish I could have steering wheel shift buttons for the steptronic.
Although paddles would be my first choice

Agree 100% about the shift stalk.
Why not auto trunk close

A stalk shift is truly function over style-- something BMW knows a bit about. There is no inherent advamtage to taking up space in the center of the front seats for a big lever to put the car into drive when a small stalk would do the same thing IMO. It would look funny but it does make a lot of sense.

auto trunk close? how lazy can you be that you cant close your own trunck?!?!??!
stalk shifter? isnt that from the 1960's???? i dunno, i see no real benefit from it.
steering wheel buttons? i think paddles are a better idea.
the only thing i want to see on the e60 is auto-folding rear view mirrors. now THAT would be an awesome feature!!!!
