Thermostat Coolant hose wont come off (easy disconnect)
Trying to get thermostat hose off which goes from thermostat to radiator (the big hose connected to the thermostat and radiator). I have pushed the "U Pin" up but i unable to push the hose off. I have tried using a screwdriver but it doesn't move much? Any suggestions?

Mine came off fairly easily but may people complain about how hard they are to remove. I'm afaid there's no real trick to removing a stuck quick connect fiting. Remove the clip completely so that it doesn't accidently snap back into the lock position and then just pry, pull, twist, and cuss until it finally gives.

Okay, i am just trying to change the water pump not the thermostat is it needed to remove the thermostat to remove pump? Also do i have to take off the power steering rack or anything else to access water pump? (i just have the front underbody panel off which had like 6 screws)

Can't say since I have no idea what E60 model you have. On my 535i I had to lower the active sway bar. I saw one DIY where the guy said you have to lower the steering rack but he was clearly confused since the pictures showed him lowering the sway bar, not the steering rack.

Just got the hose off (after 45mins of pulling that B*TCH, it finally came loose with the help of a screwdriver and a helper pulling). And really the sway bar? I know for the e90's the sway bar is in the way but for a 528xi the sway bar is far back, behind the pump. I will update, on how I did the water pump replacement.
Hopefully i will be able to do it, I really dont feel like towing the car to my Indy (which asked for a surprising 1200$).
