My idrive hesitates some times, is ther a way to make it quick. Also, where can I get a 2008 DVD for a decent price?
Try cleaning your NAV DVD or maybe try a new one or a clean copy of your old one. I was running with what I thought was a good back-up copy of my NAV DVD and iDrive just kept getting slower & slower. I put the original NAV DVD back in and iDrive resumed operating with reasonable response times. The bad DVD was apparently causing a lot of retries and it slowed down the entire iDrive operation.

Your car wont be third generation iDrive with just an update. It has different hardware too I believe(as fitted to LCI cars).
Thanks, I realise that but I did say 'based on' - the document did seem to say that there would be some improvement to 2nd gen, so I guess the proof of the pudding etc.

Cheers

I read the same article a while ago and didn't re-read it when seeing this thread but I didn't take "improvements" to idrive to mean improvements in speed, just the interface.

My comments were based on "The new generation iDrive is much faster but older cars (those with Generation 2 iDrive systems) will still see a somewhat faster response time once the car?s software is updated."

Anyway this time next week I should be able to see for myself.

Cheers
