Yesterday I called my insurance agent to get a final quote in preparation for receiving my 545i. After I described the car, the first comment from the woman helping me was, "Oh my, that car has a very high safety rating". I immediately thought of the threads I'd read here that in fact raised questions about seemingly inconsistent safety ratings for the E60. Has anybody heard anything more about this in recent weeks?

in europe the final results for the E60 are set to be publised any day now on www.euroncap.com lets wait and see what they are awarded after bmw asked for a chance to re-test the E60 due to the first set of tests putting the E60 in a bad light.

Northernmonkey is right as far as the European testing agency is concerned. For those of us in the States, the E60 has received the highest rating from our testing agency, at least for the offset frontal crash test. Do a search here, there have been several discussions about the two tests. The E60 did not do so well in the euroncap test, so BMW asked for and got a re-test. Can't recall what the problem was w/ the euroncap test. Who's right? I don't know enough about either's testing procedures to say, but clearly US based insurance companies lean towards using the US testing data.
