I have an 07 550i sport (pre LCI) and the ring on the edge of the tach moves as the engine warms up indicating where its safe to rev the engine to. Its' a temp gauge in essence. Does an 09' 550 still have this feature? Or did they discontinue it?

Thanks,
DRP

I have three notches on the upper end of the tachometer. Haven't seen them change though.

In the MY2008 550i the gauge was the same as prior years (with the ring appearing to be capable of adjusting to temperature inputs) but was disconnected so that it does not function. I suspect that remains the case on the new model.

i have a 535 and dont have this feature. i know the 550 is their premier sports sedan before getting into an M5, but i would think temperature would be a greater consideration with a turboed engine.

My point was that in the 550i there is no functioning temp gauge, even though they used the tach gauge with the temp dial feature that had been enabled in prior years.

excluding the M.
Quite obvious, as it has a dedicated temp gauge where the consumption meter is on normal E60's.
