Since the E60 used both M54, N52 and N53. Was there really a noticeable difference in power?
The 530i has progressed 215hp->255hp->268hp. The transitions between power is pretty sizeable, but was there really a noticeable difference in power?
Those who drove the M54 and the N52, did the char really change much?

Most of the gain is in the top-end rev range, note it revs to 7k rpm on the N53, the torque curve is also stronger in the mid-range. The 0-100mph for M54 is around 17s whereas the N53 is 14.5s, it's not available in America so only the N52 option but the performance shouldn't be far off.
