I'm planning to take my car in for the voice retrofit and the aux retrofit to be installed. Anyone with inside information know if/when CIP 21 is due. Also what are the common problems I can state to have the CIP upgraded for free. I have a car delivered in Jan 2006 which plays mp3 so I guess I have atleast CIP 20.

 

If CIP 21 is out by the time you take your car in you'll probably get it anyway because the car has to be recoded for bouth the voice and aux-in retrofits.

 

I don't suppose you could tell me how much the dealer has quoted for the voice and aux options?. I was really messed around by Damon Hill BMW in Warwick when I tried to order the voice activiation last year. They originally quoted just over ?200 for the switch and a bit of labour for the upgrade. The day I was due to take it in they cancelled saying BMW Technical had pulled the upgrade. I then got a call a few months later saying it was on again but the cost was over ?600. Funnily enough I told them where to go but they insisted that the extra cost was from BMW who insisted the car needed a new model order raised so that if it ever got a subsequent software update it wouldnt wipe out the dealer installed voice option.
