I have had my car a month and a half, and my only real problem has been a rear deck rattle on the driver's side. I only notice it when going over uneven pavement, but it has really messed with my serenity. I have had it to the dealership twice, and both times they kept it a full 24 hours. I know they tried, and they had the back seat out etc. etc., but no relief.
So after reading a post on this forum I took some silicone spray I had at my office and sprayed it in the area adjoining the rear seat and the rear deck. It is a tight space to get to, but I used the little straw spray adapter. I then took one of my detailing microfiber towels and wiped it in this area as deeply as I could.
Now I had very little hope this would work. But it did. The noise is gone! My car is now perfect. Thank god for e60.net!!

I had my dealer look at it yesterday when it was in for oil change and they couldnt dupluicate the problem... Like you said it only happens on un even surfaces... and like over freeway bumps... so the sega continues for me.

Do you have split fold down rear seats?
Can you take a photo of where you put the felt strip and post please!

I know this thread is old… but I just got my 2010 E60 535i in September (7months ago) and I added a subwoofer to the trunk… nothing too major… but at 60hz, my rear deck rattle and buzzes like crazy… I’ve heard the rear decks of these things are rattle traps but how are people rectifying the situation? (No pass through, no split fold down)
thx!!
thx!!
