I notice the difference.

It seems that every time I pass another E60 on the road, they are always a 530 or 525.

I just smile and hit the gas...? leaving them in my dust, staring at my 545 emblem.

Usually what i do if i see 545i is i hit on the gas too and let them guess what's my car's model as my car is debatched..

By looking at wheels. All three types has different style of wheels. Hope that helps.

It's just in the US you can look at the wheels and tell which engine. In the EU you choose the wheels from your own taste...

Exact heli_ca, they are actually the same size the brakes of the 535d.That's why they both comes standard with 17" wheels instead of 16".

...why does anyone care what anyone else has anyway ,
buy the car the way you want it and dont worry what Im driving, because the engine size says nothing about the options or cost, i wont get a 545/550, cause i dont need that type of power in this type of car, but i know my car optioned out will cost more than most, but WHO CARES

besides, everything can be changed, the rims, the lights, the exhaust, the front grill....etc, etc, etc, you can never tell really...

love what you buy, admire others choices, but dont worry too much what I have, cause you'd never guess correctly

I took my 545i on a Saturday bang
Boy is that 545i with you
Yes we're one and the same

Now I believe in miracles
And a miracle has happened tonight

But, if you're thinkin' about my 545i
It don't matter if you're 530i or 525i

They print my message in the Saturday Sun
I had to tell them my 545i is second to none

And I told about equality and it's true
Either you're wrong or you're right

But, if you're thinkin' about my 545i
It don't matter if you're 530i or 525i

I am tired of this devil
I am tired of this stuff
I am tired of this business
Sew when the going gets rough
I ain't scared of your E500
I ain's scared of no M45
I ain't scared of STS
Girl when the goin' gets mean

Just displacement
cylinders
Where your blood comes from
Is were your space is
I've seen the bright get duller
I'm not going to spend my life being a color

Don't tell me you agree with me
When I saw you kicking dirt in my eye

But, if you're thinkin' about my 545i
It don't matter if you're 530i or 525i

I said if you're thinkin' of being my ride
It don't matter if you're 545i or M5

I said if you're thinkin' of being my little brother
It don't matter if you're 530i or 525i

Ooh, ooh
Yea, yea, yea now
Ooh, ooh
Yea, yea, yea now

It's 530i, it's 525i
It's tough for them to get by
It's 545i, it's M5, whoo

what does the driver have to do with straigtline acceleration? hammer it and go... unless your both running manuals...

an extra 100HP makes a big difference at any speed... not just off the line.... neither the 525 or 530 could keep up with a 545, even starting from 100MPH....

If you have ever raced you may notice that other car are on the road ... yes engine still does play a roll but not as much as it does off the line.. I can still catch up to a 545 if he gets a little caught up makes the wrong move and so on... yes if it was a straight line continuously and no interruptions then yes it would.. but in the real world you have things like traffic, other dumb drivers, and ones who may not know how to use their 545 .. so once again im goin to say, the driver has a BIG part in a race of these cars because one must know how to maneuver... I'm not denying the 4.5L engine is kick ass I have one and know what its capable of..and I know that it can beat out the 2.5L and 3.0L but there are times when a 525 or 530 can beat one due to surcumstances..thats my point

Hey speedracerF4i ya wanna be a Rap Star like "Jin"?

By the way Jenny, from the rear the 545i's exhaust pipes are slightly larger than a 525i/530i.

Usually the 545i will have different rims like the 116's or 124's if you see an E60 with custom larger rims and tires AND custom exhaust then the only way to tell from a visual standpoint would be to see the E60 take off from the light and LISTEN to the V8 growl, if there is no growl it's a 525i/530i.

The inline 6 cylinders have a turbine like whooosh that sounds great too.

Agreed, When I took my car to the Buttonwillow Driving school, there were lesser cars (engine size) than my 545i out there that I would have to let pass.(Did not want to admit that) Their experience/other vehicle factors allowed them to take the corners faster than I was willing too at that point and thus were faster around the track than I was. Of course some of them had track tires, upgraded suspension, but the point as Hamman5 noted, there are other vehicle factors that are important, and of course the driver, versus the engine size. Drag strip, is a little different story, but I don't drive on too many of those.

Another case in point, is that I passed the E39 M5 a couple of times at the track.
